Tough SEO competition in the Philippines

The Philippines is one of the countries in the world that offers highly competitive workers in the different fields – Engineering, IT, Medicine and many others. Probably the best reason why many Filipinos excel in their fields is their “diskarte” or approach and how they see things differently.

I am Mark Anthony Maranga, a travel blogger and a teacher. I enjoy going to places I have never been and took photographs of these places together with my wife and baby. I also work as a web designer if someone asks and pays me to do it but most of the time I develop my own websites and optimize it so it will rank high in search engines.

A couple of years ago, when I first studied SEO (Search Engine Optimization), the competition is not as ferocious as it is today. A simple one-way or two-way link building and a few unique content or blog per month will do the trick. Skyrocketing in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) when I first tried to optimize my few sites is very easy until the competition in the SEO industry has become so tough.

I asked myself why my rankings in the search engines are no longer very high compared before – and the answer is simple, the competition has become tougher and tougher. The new college graduates as well as other IT professionals now learn SEO very easily because of the free tutorials online. Some of them also go to a computer school such as Informatics Computer Institute to study the basic and advance classes in SEO.

Because of this tough challenge ahead of me, I am planning to devote more time to optimizing my websites especially this Cebu Web Designer site so I can sell my services and help those businesspersons and professionals sell their products and services as well. From now on, I will work on adding unique and high quality content to this website to avoid drop in rankings. According to many SEO experts, “content is king”. Even if Search Engines update their algorithms, the unique and regular content will always score the highest points in the ranking recipe.

I know my SEO competitors here in the Philippines are also good so I will do my best to be better than all of them and reach the #1 spot in the near future.

If you do not have any idea on what is SEO, you can check the short video below developed by Common Craft in cooperation with Search Engine Land. It is probably the best and shortest video about how SEO works and the basics of optimizing your website. If you think SEO-ing will consume a lot of your time, you can simply contact me and I will send you a proposal within 24 hours after I receive your plan/details of the job.
