It is an open-source Apache HTTP server that help make your site load faster and reduces load time. The module needs to be installed and it can automatically optimize your website’s speed. Parts of the optimization process are that it can automatically re-size and compress images, domain sharing and rewriting among many others.
Some hosting companies like GoDaddy and EdgeCast are already using mod_pagespeed as it can be both used by large hosting providers and by individual web sites.
