Installing a font in any of the recent windows operating system is easy for those who are technically savvy but for those who are going to install it for the first time, they will need a few instructions and steps to be able to add a new font which they can use in a wide-variety of software including Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc) and Adobe Programs.
First, you download the font you like and most internet-user usually search it at Google or go directly to DaFont.com. The website currently offers 17,204 fonts (of which 4,829 with accents and 4,474 with the Euro symbol) some of them are free some are for a few dollars or donations only.
After clicking on “Download”, you will get a .ZIP file. Unzip it and you will get a .TTF, .OTF or .FON file.
Under Windows 7/Vista:
Select the font files (.ttf, .otf or .fon) then Right-click > Install
Under any version of Windows:
Place the font files (.ttf, .otf or .fon) into the Fonts folder, usually C:\Windows\Fonts or C:\WINNT\Fonts
(can be reached as well by the Start Menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Fonts).
You can also use the Windows Command Button > Search Box and key in Fonts. Click on the Fonts Folder to open it.
Drag the .TTF, .OTF or .FON file and you are done installing the font. You can now locate the font you just installed in the software you are using.
