How to Add a New Brush in Photoshop

For those who don’t have any idea that you, as a Photoshop user, can add a new Brush or Brush set, this simple tutorial is for you. Many of those who have heard about the ability of Photoshop to design logos, enhance photos, resize images, etc also wants to discover how great the software is. But starters don’t know how to install or add a new brush in Photoshop unless they read a tutorial online or saw a video or ask their friends on how to do it.

Adding a new brush in Photoshop is fairly easy work. All you have to do is find the brush that you like on the internet, download it and add it to the correct folder, where all the other brushes belong.

There are a lot of websites that offer free photoshop brushes but I can only recommend three websites in this webpage. I’ll try to make a longer list in another blog. These three websites that offer free (and paid) photoshop brushes, which I recommend, are BrushEezy.com, MyPhotoshopBrushes.com, and BrushKing.eu

Find the brush that you need using their search box or you can simply brush the different available brushes. Click on “Download” or “Download File!” to download the ZIP file or ABR file. If you downloaded a ZIP file, extract the ABR file from the folder.

Once you have the ABR file, copy it to the following folder:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS4 > Presets > Brushes

Technical: If you are using Windows 7 Operating System, you have the option to install it in both “Program Files” and “Program Files (x86)” folders so you can use the brush in the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Photoshop.

Hope you understand it!
